The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is officially my "favorite Zelda game ever" narrowly beating out A Link to the Past and the Adventure of Link. (I know I know)

I beat it tonight, and WOW, is it AWESOME! And what a great final battle. Great characters. Yay! I almost can't wait to play it a second time!

Well... I still have to beat the 50 level cave of ordeals and a few other side quests. But I'm done with the main quest.

I like it a lot, but I don't think it's the greatest thing ever. Why do you like it so much? (FYI, I just got out of the Lakebed Temple.)

Certainly not the greatest "thing" ever, but I find it to be the best Zelda ever.

Most importantly, I found the game to be primarily based on puzzles instead of on combat. The puzzles, in particular, seemed difficult, but not insurmountable. I was able to solve every puzzle with some time put into the game. I really loved this quality of the game.

I also like the boss battles. They actually reminded me very much of Shadows of the Colussus. I loved the various techniques you have to employ to defeat the various monsters, as well as the epic scope. I particularly love the fact that its not "slash at bad guy until dead" type battles.

Throughout the game, I found myself saying, over and over again, "Wow! This game is AWESOME!" I can't put my finger on exactly why, except for the above points. It was after the Fused Shadow quests that I really started to find myself engrossed in the game, so perhaps you'll find it picking up a bit soon?

I used to be a fan of the Zelda games, but I stopped playing them with Link to the Past (I, being a bit of an old-timer who still misses the 2-D side-scrolling games). I really liked Link to the Past among the Zelda games, in particular because of many of the interesting adventure/puzzle elements that you mention. Is the new one really that much better?

*I* think so. You should come over and try it out!

Better than "A Link to the Past"? I am skeptical.
