Homosexuality in Babylon 5

Wow. I'm watching "Racing Mars" an episode of Babylon 5 from the fourth season. Two male characters are infiltrating Mars and get fake IDs. They are identified as two newlywed men on their honeymoon. The idea is presented reasonably and without fanfare. It's just a fact. THIS is the way GLBT issues should be portrayed, displayed when relevant, but not made a big deal over. *sigh*

JMS has specifically said his portrayals of homosexuality on B5 was "Who cares." :D

I was much surprised to see Andrea Thompson using Ivanova's shower in that one episode. :)

I don't there was any doubt that Ivanova was queer, they implied that Talia and her spent a night together.

I think it was amusing that they used the doctor, who's always been a hardass, and the ranger, one of the most queer characters ever for a scifi show, to be a couple. His character seemed like he wandered onto the set from some Robin Hood ripoff.

I always did find his character a little odd. Aren't rangers supposed to be a little more hard core? *shrugs*

don't forget, this is the show where, as a matter of canon, Ivonova and Talia Winters were lovers. No fanfare, no "See This is A Big Deal." - it was so understated you could miss it. :)
