Alone

Coming home to an empty house tonight. For the first time in about a month, I have nothing to do, nowhere to be, no commitments, and nothing calling for my attention. I have the entire night to myself. What shall I do? Play games to relax? Watch some House? Read some books on writing computer games and websites? Work on Arimaa? Call someone to come over? Catch up on some work I want to get done? The night is mine to do with as I please.

I still wish I had someone to come home to.

Maybe I should adopt a cat.

Yes, adopt a kitty! I got mine from a rescue org and she is the sweetest thing ever. :)

I think you would be a wonderful cat owner. :)

I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] simplykimberly would be happy to accommodate you! If not her, I have a non-LJ friend who owns 33 of them, I'm sure she'd be willing to adopt one out. :)

Actually, consider a pair. It tends to make them more social.
Though I will warn you they are addictive.

I second that. It's also more convenient for the periods when one's life DOES pick up a bit and isn't as available to torment teh kitties. I got my second to be a playmate for the first and once she lost the weight she'd put on during her depression, they had a grand old time. They're still utter love-butts when I'm home, but I feel moderately better leaving for a weekend because they have the ability to entertain each other.

(Sidenote, I KNOW I've seen that anime character before, but I can't place atm...who is/where from?)

It's wonderful, and terrible, at the same time. I've loved the extra time alone and time to do stuff, but my house is soooooooo empty now. Sure, I have cats, but heck, even they only use half the house - they don't come upstairs unless it's to visit me.

Plus, cats aren't as good for sharing adventures with. They're loveballs, but very high-tension loveballs.

I'm not big on cats, but I really really really want a dog for this same reason.
