I finished it about a week ago. I want to read it again, after having read books 1 - 6 one after the other before I really can vocalize my full reaction.
It's cool to finally know...but a little sad in finishing it. I've followed it for several years, felt like I'm growing up with the characters. I've waited for each book to come out, devouring the books as they do. I've gone back & reread the older volumes to tatters to get me through illnesses or recoveries. Many of these books I associate with other hallmark times in my life.
There's still the movies, I guess...but after the last one, I've lost faith in those.
I guess I still have the Eragon series (least one more book)...but I don't have the sentimental associations with those (tho the books are damned good, well written). It feels like with the close of HP, it's closing the cover on a portion of my own life, as well.
Like any book, I can still go back, blow the dust off the cover, crack the spine again. I enjoyed losing myself and will again. Still...it's like, over.
considering that OotP was the longest book in the series by far, a measly hour and a half movie is not long enough to do the story justice. it seriously should have been one of those 3 hour movies
