So, I gave a little talk on prosopagnosia today to my coworkers.

I hit all the usual points. Talked about how I can't follow the plot of movies. How I can't remember my mother's face. You know... All of the usual things I mention.

And people really liked it! Take a look at this email!

Dear Joyce,

I wanted to thank you for your presentation today. Not only did it clear up the reason why you did seem not to know me after I met you a couple times, but I think it also educated everyone on something important that people don't usually think twice about. The next time I see you, I'll be sure to introduce myself again! I'm pretty short, with long curly-ish brown hair.

A few others also came up to me and told me that they experience this sort of thing as well! And others are now identifying themselves whenever they come near me. Exciting!

Our last hike for the trip was Monday's hike down Pine Creek Canyon. This was effectively the "end-level" boss of the entire trip, as it was the most technically challenging route of all of the routes we had done up to this point. And in terms of physical difficulty, it was right up there with The Subway and Angel's Landing.Read more... )

Now that all of the Zion posts are finished, I wanted to do a bit of a summary.

First of all, in case you missed it, I've been going back and adding video and pictures to all of my zion posts. You can review all of them at this link: http://gentle-gamer.livejournal.com/tag/zion

We took so many photos on our trip, between all of us having cameras and stuff, that there was no way I could upload all of them to my Picasa site. And I only posted a small number of those to Lj. If you want to get a look at some more of the photos, check out these album links behind the cut.Read more... )

My experiences at Zion were amazing. I got to do things that I had literally only dreamed of doing back when I was a child. It was another one of those sorts of culminating moments in my life, where I stopped to take a look at things, how things have changed, and where things are going. I got lots of time to contemplate my life and some of the things that have happened recently.

I also met some wonderful people that I'm going to miss terribly.

It was an experience that shall not be forgotten. And I most assuredly intend to replicate it as often as I am able to!
