Okay, so on the one hand, you've got a guy that has, at the support of his home country, murdered 3,279 non-combatant innocent civilians. On the other hand, you've got a guy, who, at the support of his country, has murdered at least 14,770 civilians, and possibly as many as 100,000 civilians. They both want their country to be free of terrorism and foreign interference. Both target centers of wealth for their attacks. If you really think about it, which one is worse?

Interesting to note, of course, that the first is Osama Bin Laden, and the second is George W Bush. And also interesting to note that both of them deserve to be locked up and have the key thrown away. But while we hate and despise the first one, we love the second, apparently. You might think that its because Bin Laden kills Americans whereas Bush kills Arabs, but you're wrong there. Although not having outright killed as many as Bin Laden, nearly half of the number killed by Bin Laden, 1,299 American soldiers, have died fighting Bush's illegal, unjust, and immoral war. I also find it interesting that 1,162 of these deaths have occurred AFTER Bush declared the war to be over. In addition to that, sadly, are nearly 15,000 injuries. Oh joy.

I happened upon this article and a quick skim seems to indicate that it pretty much outlines what I think we should do to Bush right now. Impeach, try, and imprison this murderer.

And here's something very funny to end this rather longish journal entry.

Apparently, we really are living in the matrix. This is a cool concept, and something I've been arguing for ages. Of course, my argument goes a little farther, using things I've learned from reading Greg Egan's Permutation City. I suggest that if the world CAN be simulated, then it MUST exist. Its a fairly simple argument, but it uses several conclusions from formal languages and other math/cs fields. Here's a quick version:

ASSUME: The world can be simulated on a computer of sufficient power.
0.5) All simulations are based on various algorithms/programs.
1) All algorithms can be run on an abstract computer called the Turing Machine.
2) Every Turing Machine can be represented by a Godel Number.
ASSUME: All abstract concepts, such as numbers, must necessarily be in existence.
Therefore: Every Godel Number must necessarily exist, meaning that every turing machine must exist, finally implying that this world must exist.

For me, the reason for this argument is to suggest that complex creation stories as seen in most of the world's religions are unnecessary. All you absolutely need to have this world exist is the creation of mathematics. This particular universe is just one logical result of that creation. Let me try saying that again in a different way: To create mathematics is, in the same action, to create this universe.

Found out there was some water damage claims on the house a few years back... Hopefully its all been taken care of.

In other news, here's another good anti-bush song.

Lyrics to "Talking Points".

Talking Points Lyrics:

Don't you know it's time to be free; Won't you lend a hand
Won't you show the world your outrage; Won't you take a stand

I call 'em a racist, cuz they just can't face this,
Everyone seems so blind.
I call em a racist, cuz they just can't face this,
Every child's been left behind.

All our rights are treaded on.
All our rights may soon be gone.
Civil Rights just don't belong,
Treated like some political pawn.

So don't pretend that it is all fine,
Or you may end up on the unemployment line.
While your job gets reassigned,
To some Malaysain kid who's just pushin nine.

I'm a man of many talents,
So let me break it down all "Fair" and "Balanced".
I hope I blow the roof right off this joint,
Cuz I'm bustin' out my "Talking Points".

(chorus)
First they planned and then they lied about the WMDs.
Then they dropped bombs, killed Dads and Moms, and many more Iraqis.
Then they vacationed as the Nation's children went off to war.
How many more of our kids must die for a barrel of oil?
A hundred billion spent to kill them, meanwhile millions are still,
Left here jobless, while they rob all our civil rights at will.
It's time to MOVE ON and improve on the red white and the blue,
I'll keep it "Pithy". Are you with me? These talking points are true! Uh-Oh

It's not too late. It's not too late.

When it's time to judge my soul,
When it's time to pay that toll.
I know that at least,
I was one who stood for peace,
And I know that on that day,
When I finally have my say,
The whole world will hear me,
Cuz I'm gonna shout it!

Gonna tell my mother,
Gonna tell my brtoher,
If we help each other,
we can make a change!

(Chorus)...

I call em a liar, cuz they preach to the choir,
And "Spin" their words like a top.
I call em a liar, cuz they just never tire,
Of spewing their propaganda non-stop.

Everyday it's the same 'ole song,
We're the "Right" and you're the wrong.
But never fear, we will fight on.
We'll keep speaking the truth until you're gone.

In the end one thing is true,
WE'RE the ones "Lookin' Out For You".
I hope I blow the roof right off this joint,
Cuz I'm bustin out my "Talking Points".
