This is... heavily ranty. I was going to write a more reasonable response to the nonsense at Bilerico on my blog, but that will have to wait in favor of this: This is not a reasoned argument. This is an expression of pain.

I am PISSED the FUCK off by the bullshit going down at Bilerico. I can't BELIEVE that the editors can actually stand there and accept this sort of transphobic hateful vitriol and justify it as "contributing to discussion." It is disgusting, horrific, and wrong. It is triggery and traumatizing to many transgender individuals.

This is not a good editorial decision. It's not even a bad one. This is a violent and hateful attack on trans people of every color and stripe.

And mother fuck if I don't have ENOUGH shit to deal with. Every second I have this conversation, I am back there at my mother's funeral with my step-grandmother saying the SAME FUCKING SHIT to me while I'm standing on the sidewalk out front and not inside with my mother's lifeless corpse because my step-father and other family members decided to HIRE A FUCKING police officer to keep me out until everyone else left.

Now I'm generally a peaceful relaxed person but when I read that article I wanted to serious serious damage. I want to make these people feel the hurt I've felt; the pain I've felt. How dare they talk on my behalf. They know nothing about me!

Why does anyone believe it's okay to spew stuff like that? I have heard all that crap so many times from members of the so-called LbGt community that I could . . . spit nails, at the very least.

I'd just like to take a moment to comment that gay people don't really exist, and I want to shame all of those horrid activists that delude young men and women in to believing that they actually WANT this immoral sex.

Or are we only fostering discussion when it's not horrifically dismissing the existence of the Editors? -.-

I feel that Mr. Gold's argument about gender roles is completely spurious, that it doesn't map to what I've seen of actual cisgendered people, let alone transsexuals.

I also feel that it's disgustingly unempathetic and downright cruel. If someone is desperately depressed, then you try to piece apart why that is, rather than just give them a blanket dismissal.

And I think it's rooted in a complete misunderstanding of human nature.

So basically I think his arguments are offensive, cruel, and rooted in faulty logic at pretty much every step of the process.

And yeah... that's like the world's weakest apology for being offensive, ever.

The editor gives this schmuck a pass because he's "elderly" and isn't willing to learn something new?

He gets to, instead, be as completely clueless as I've ever seen anyone be on this subject, in public, in a place where he will without a doubt offend the fuck out of everyone with a shred of a clue.

I have found it useful when screening an article (http://www.bilerico.com/2009/12/transgender_a_disease_that_doesnt_exist.php) for hatred and bigotry, to find and replace identifiers. Often this helps me see past my own prejudices. Herewith are edited versions in [brackets] of key parts of this article.

This bisexual thinks that the blog should either repudiate the author's remarks or remove the T from its logo. Either you acknowledge the concept of transsexuality or you do not. If not, stop pretending that the transsexuals are inside the tent when you not only label them as second-class citizens, judge them from the outside, and lecture them on what they should and should not feel and do.

Well, it was nice of them to take it down (I went to go and read it, but the article was gone). Even better that there now are a lot of articles about transgender and transphobia. It would have been best if they hadn't let it get posted in the first place.

I'm glad it's brought the issue into a public forum, though. This stupidity and hate has gone on long enough. Seriously, if a LGBT group/blog is going to be inclusive, they really need to make sure they're looking out for all of their audience members.

The trans folks definitely get the most crap from the world, but bi/pan folks get a lot of crap too, including very frequent claims that we don't exist.
