If you think it can't change the world...

Think again.

Keep fighting, folks!

Rant time!

LJ-cut to spare the weak. :P )That's the end of the rant on that one. I may send this person an email summary of some of this.

There was an asssault on four trans women in my hometown recently... I'm at work right now and fighting back tears... Some of these women were friends of a friend, too.... The story, as posted to our TransFamily group, is below...

FYI: I changed the names just to be careful...

Sorry for all the links today...

Report indicates that men with more older brothers are more likely to be gay.

Evidence that homosexuality is "designed" to function as population control?

So, um... About "queerness" being unnatural...

There are over 450 species that demonstrate extensive homosexual behavior. Frequently, these behaviors are seen to improve social cooperation within a group. You also find transgendered, polyamorous, bisexual, and otherwise queer animals.

Yet these things are unnatural?

When someone convinces the dolphins, monkeys, fish, giraffes, etc. that they shouldn't be gay because it's unnatural, maybe I'll start to believe your stupid idea that queer = unnatural.

"You know what's interesting about this whole thing? According to polls, 51 percent of Americans do not approve of gay marriage, but 70 percent of Americans do not approve of President Bush. So gay marriage is actually more popular than he is." --Jay Leno

"President Bush said he was 'troubled' by gay people getting married in San Francisco. He said on important issues like this the people should make the decision, not judges. Unless of course we're choosing a president, then he prefers judges." —Jay Leno

"If the last two days are any indication, the race for the White House will be pretty much decided by whether two middle-aged women can open a joint checking account." —Jon Stewart

Wow. I'm watching "Racing Mars" an episode of Babylon 5 from the fourth season. Two male characters are infiltrating Mars and get fake IDs. They are identified as two newlywed men on their honeymoon. The idea is presented reasonably and without fanfare. It's just a fact. THIS is the way GLBT issues should be portrayed, displayed when relevant, but not made a big deal over. *sigh*

HOUSE BILL NO. 3004 is a newly OKed bill in Oklahoma to make it illegal to sell video games to minors if they contain a variety of things such as nudity, violence, and sexual conduct. From the text of the bill, 5. "Sexual conduct" means acts of masturbation, homosexuality, sexual intercourse, or physical contact with a person's clothed or unclothed genitals, pubic area, buttocks, or, if such person be a female, breast;, bolding is mine.

So apparently, it is now illegal to portray same-sex relationships in video games directed at minors. In Oklahoma, at least... *growl*

The gender wars have been fought over the past hundred years or so, and will continue to be fought for many years hence. These battles are being fought over the definitions of what "real men" and "real women" are. These battles are being fought on many fronts, and many of those that are doing the fighting on the forefronts are outcast and ostracized for their opinions. But the saddest thing is that these warriors fight not for an ideal, but simply for the right to live as themselves. Who are these gender warriors?
